RE: Theft

How about a long rope attached to the frame with a stuffed dog on the end of it. Tuck it under the camper so the thief doesn't know it's there.
A camper dragging a dog would attract enough attention for another motorist to call the police.

Email page size help needed

I don't know what happened but lately I've been opening my emails and the page width is much greater than my monitor's screen size. I have to scroll back and forth horizontally to read each line.
Did I (or my grandkids :() change something and how can I get the page to fit the screen like it used to?
Thanks for your help

RE: electrical problem help

1. Since your unit is 14 years old check and clean all your 12 volt ground connections. A bad ground can play he!! with lights.
2. See #1.

RE: Firearms & the Class A

For those of you with a CCW permit, here's a link where you can build and print a map showing which states have reciprocity to your home state and will allow you to carry your gun in the same manner. Wisconsin and Illinois do not permit carrying concealed weapons at all.

RE: Best Way to Diagnose a Front Bunk Area Leak

This is a proven method for finding elusive leaks in RVs. It is available at larger RV dealerships and costs about $100 or so but well worth it. Good luck.

RE: Traveling Ohio to Florida @ Christmas

Depending on the weather forecast I take I-71/I-75 south instead of the ride through WV and Va on I-77. I've ran into some unexpectedly nasty road conditions in the higher elevations. It's a little longer drive but less white knuckle.
Plan on late evening or weekend travel in the Atlanta area though.

and the state selling my mh....
Don't worry about them selling it...they'd probably park it at a Walmart and use it as a decoy for the next RV catnip raid :W

RE: Question about hot water heater drain plug with zinc anode

I believe the rule is, when it's 50% eaten away, put a new one in. In the center of the zinc is a steel rod that you'll start to see it as the zinc is deteriorated. Mine used to last about 2 years of medium use.

RE: Legal question: Is a search warrant required for RV entry?

Here's an exception where vehicles are searched on a regular basis without permission, probable cause or search warrants.
Pleasure boats being loaded on trailers at public boat ramps are searched by game wardens, Division of Watercraft and sometimes the Coast guard. They will board boats at random, search coolers, bilges, cabins, for illegal sizes and limits of fish even though you've been water skiing, give field sobriety tests, safety checks and check for license and registrations. You can tell them they don't have permission to search your boat but they will anyhow.
Been there....done that.

RE: Legal question: Is a search warrant required for RV entry?

The above links regarding search and seisure are a good source of information.
Speaking as a former police officer, the police can search a vehicle for inventory purposes prior to towing it. Any contraband (illegal drugs, weapons, stolen property etc.) found during the inventory would not be in violation of the Fourth Amendment and be admissable in court. Vehicles can be towed for any number of reasons including, arrest of the driver or safety violations. The minor violation of displaying an expired license plate could be reason enough to tow.
It is not unheard of for officers to tow a vehicle that would otherwise be allowed to be driven off had it not been for something suspicious occurring.
And that's just the way it is.

RE: 08 daymon daybreak gas milage

the salesman told me "8 or 9, if you get 10 call me" i never called, but i keep it 55 or under and get 8+ without too many mountains. i got 10.5 once on the flat with a 40 mph tail wind. i guess that really doesn't count. the engine is well broken in with about 60k have a 2003 31' coachmen towing an hhr.
You need a sign like I've got in my toad's back window,
"Slow, but ahead of you."

RE: Would you buy this motorhome?

If the rear cap is a concern, why wouldn't another mfg. rear cap work if it's the same size and you paint it to match? That would give you a custom coach.

RE: You Might Be An RVer If. . . . .

Your mouse finger automatically clicks on any thread in this forum with "Walmart" in it's title.
When you take walks in the campground you look for the blue and white "RV.Net" stickers on the RVs.
Instead of shopping for the cheapest gasoline price you look for the easiest exit from the pumps.
The voice from your GPS actually keeps you company.
Your rear view mirror is a TV.
Part of your vehicle maintenance schedule is caulking your seams.
Most of your emails are subscribe notices from this forum.
When you shop you look for a square of 4 spaces in the parking lot. If it's raining you take a nap before you shop. If it's late when you come out, you spend the night.

RE: Sidewall Delamination

Below a window is the perfect place to repair delam. When you get the window out, the damage and repair will be self explanatory. What I did was push some cedar shim wedges down into the damaged area to open it up about 1/4" and put a fan above it blowing into the opening for a week or so to completely dry it out. You'll have to temporarily tape plastic on the outside of the rv to keep the weather out unless you're fortunate enough to have a heated garage. Winter in SD is probably not the best time to do this repair since the wood may be frozen and you have to dry it out completely before gluing. DON'T use Gorilla brand or any other polyurethane glue. While moisture helps it cure, it also expands during the process and will cause a permanent bubble. I used 2 part 2 hour cure epoxy mixed with acetone to thin it out and allow it to seep in where I couldn't poke it in. In cold weather you'll probably have to use more hardener than 50%. Then do the plywood clamp arrangement as described by fordtruckguy above or if you have a few large C clamps you can put thick ply on the inside and outside and just clamp it through the bottom of the window. I always leave a glob of glue on a piece of paper and when that's dry the repair will be also.
Before you re-bed your window back in get a 2" + wide roll of the real aluminum duct tape with the peel off backing at a home center and apply it around at least the bottom half of the raw window opening, overlapping the inside and outside surfaces. (you can trim it off after the window is in) If the window ever leaks again the tape will prevent water from seeping into the coach structure. Take it or leave it, good luck.
